10 Biggest Churches in Africa

How religious are Africans? Let’s see their 10 biggest churches in Africa to find out a bit more.

Whenever I see black people in the church, I think about the party. When it comes to the religion, Africans are very specific people. Even though their lives, in general, is mostly depressing, their connection with the God is marvelous. They sing to him and, for most of them, the church is the happiest place on Earth.

The church in the city I live in is a rather depressing place. Whenever I enter, it is like smelling and feeling death. It is very cold, covered in white and pictures, one very plain place. And extremely creepy because it is too quiet for anyone’s taste. There is a chorus that sings on holidays but, in a meantime, the only person you can hear singing is a priest. To be honest, I would prefer if he would remain quiet because it is the rule for them to have extremely deep voices and sometimes even produce some strange noises. So even though it is supposed to be some kind of a happy place, it is very creepy, even during wedding ceremonies. It is no wonder why there aren’t that many people on Sunday.

On the other hand, there is no wonder why there are so many people in African churches. Imagine having every Sunday starting with strong morning coffee after which there is a whole chorus, including the priest, singing along with you. First of all, those are not depressing, but lively songs that get you immediately on your feet and you can’t do anything but sing along with them. At least in movies, it seems like a real party out there.

To be honest, I am not really a religious person. I don’t know why since I have been really into everything related to it as a child. Something changed over the years that I now feel sick whenever I pass by the church. And I have to do it frequently because the church is right next to the college I go to.  In the last 10 years, I went to church less than 10 times. One time was long ago when my friend was auditioning for the chorus. The second time was when my child turned one, I couldn’t wait for the ceremony to end and I regret it. After that, I only had to go into the church when I had to go to some wedding ceremony and, in most cases, I ended up outside the church, chatting with some friends and waiting for all that to end.
But even for me, these churches seem interesting, especially these 10 biggest churches in Africa.
